Residential Sermons

As the global pandemic rages, Dan Roth and John have been getting together weekly for some piano/guitar duets. Each piece is entirely unedited and unplanned. No overdubs, punch-ins, edits, etc. While Dan may have had some notion of the development of certain movements, the entire endeavor is completely improvised with no prior plan for either piece.

The goal is to capture some atmospheric chamber improvisation with a nod to the spirit evoked in many of Manfred Eicher’s ECM sessions, where the rhythm section was often removed, allowing for harmonies between the two players to develop a melodic outcome. Psychedelic Chamber Jazz, in keeping with the Breathanes ethos.

Residential Sermons is an entirely in-house production generated by Dan and John. The music is free to all who wish to listen. Any sharing and/or re-broadcasting in any form is OK. If anyone feels inclined to donate any amount toward our production expenses, it would be graciously appreciated, and may even lead to a foothold toward future production.
Thanks to all in the audio radiance who find resonance within these pieces.
