When I moved to Athens the first musicians I heard play live were Jamie DeRevere and John Miley. The music (at a hair salon!) was transcendent and confirmed I was in the right place. I went on to play with Jamie a bunch through Pocketful of Claptonite and Vectrexcentricity, but before this recording session I had only played with John I think one time, and briefly. This meeting was long overdue, as we share so many musical loves and years and friends in Athens. From his work with Robert Fripp’s League of Crafty Guitarists to Grateful Dead celebrants Cosmic Charlie to his spiritual home of Breathlanes, John is an intrepid guitar explorer of exquisite and spacious lyricism. It was a joy and honor to play with him in this unhurried (yet super-efficient!) session. What you hear was played in the order presented…there are no edits or overdubs, just two friends playing as the music wanted. In and out in two hours, with some hearty conversation and good laughs between the plucks. I hope you enjoy! Thanks as always for listening. Peace and Love
